John Smallbrock is a seasoned Electrical Contractor with over 16 years of hands-on experience in both residential and commercial electrical systems. His expertise extends to diagnostics, repair, and new installations.

A licensed Electrical Inspector for the State of South Dakota, John ensures adherence to strict electrical codes and regulations. He is also a certified Electrical Contractor, demonstrating his comprehensive knowledge of the industry.

With a passion for sharing his expertise, John has been an instructor at the IEC of the Dakotas for over a decade. His curriculum covers essential topics such as electrical theory, Ohm’s Law, electrical calculations, the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), blueprint reading, and safety.

Beyond the classroom, John has a strong background in practical electrical work. His experience includes extensive work on the Ellsworth Air Force Base Medical Clinic, as well as various residential and commercial projects. He has a proven ability to supervise teams, including apprentices, and has a strong commitment to delivering quality workmanship.

John holds an apprenticeship in Electrical from the IEC of the Dakotas and a Powerline Construction and Maintenance diploma from Mitchell Technical Institute. His dedication to continuous learning is evident in his in-depth understanding of electrical systems.

A recipient of the Boy Scouts of America Master Craftsman Award, John brings a strong work ethic and attention to detail to his role as an instructor.
